The Immigration Bureau has put in place measures to deal with congestion caused by flight delays at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports due to Typhoon Hagibis.

Ten flights from Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi airport between 9am and 5pm on Saturday have been cancelled and arrival times of five other flights have been adjusted so far.

Pol Maj Gen Veeraphol, commander of the Immigration Bureau Division 2, said officials were on full alert at immigration counters to deal with any backlog of passengers. Airport officials were deployed to help passengers. Special immigration counters have been arranged for children, the elderly, as well as pregnant and disabled passengers, he added.

Earlier, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a warning that Typhoon Hagibis would hit Japan on Saturday and Sunday, bringing torrential rain and strong winds. This could affect flights to and from Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.

THAI adjusts Japan flight times as typhoon nears

October 11, 2019

Thai Airways International (THAI) announced on Friday (October 11) changes in its flight schedule for four Thailand-Japan routes due to risks posed by Typhoon Hagibis.

“Passengers travelling between October 11 and 13 should keep up to date at thaiairways.com,” said Squadron Leader Anirute Sangrit, THAI mission commander of the Flight Operations Department.

He said the Japan Meteorological Agency expects Hagibis, designated Typhoon No 19, to approach Japan on October 12-13, bringing heavy rain and strong wind that could affect aviation.

Flights to and from Fukuoka and Sapporo will follow their original schedules.

THAI flights TG 622 Bangkok-Osaka on Friday and TG 623 Osaka-Bangkok, TG 672 Bangkok-Osaka and TG 673 Osaka-Bangkok on Saturday are among flights to be rescheduled.

New times will be announced soon.

TG 645 departs Nagoya at 9am instead of 11am on Saturday and arrives in Bangkok at 1pm instead of 3.

TG 646 Bangkok-Nagoya and TG 647 Nagoya-Bangkok on Saturday are also on the list. New times are forthcoming.

TG 641 departs Tokyo (Narita Airport) at 10.20am rather than 10.50 on Saturday and reaches Bangkok at 2.50pm instead of 3.20.

TG 643 departs Narita at 11am on Saturday, an hour earlier than planned and arrives in Bangkok at 3.30pm

TG 676 Bangkok-Narita and TG 676 Narita-Bangkok on Saturday are also affected. New times are pending.

TG 683 departs Tokyo (Haneda Airport) at 9.35am on Saturday, again an hour early, and arrives in Bangkok at 2.05pm.

TG 660 Bangkok- Haneda and TG 661 Haneda-Bangkok on Saturday are affected.
