Looks like a fancy label for a lifestyle choice to me, possibly bordering on bullshit.
Whatever the behaviour, there is always some element of choice. Just the same as eating, drinking, smoking etc.
Without a proper statistically significant & peer reviewed study, I also don't buy any "genetic" explanation either.
