Has anyone heard of further police raids ?
Someone just claimed he's been arrested and needs 6000 to pay off the police. He has no passport, so there is always a risk of being had for immigration offences.
I only noticed his message 10 hours after it was sent.
Since the message only includes some random pic of the police examining a pick up, I'm not inclined to believe the claim. If he's messaging me, he still has his phone. So I think he could get better evidence than that.

Re: Bar Reports
I believe your inclination is correct. You didn't post much detail, but I can guess. He is probably a bar boy, Cambodian, and if he can't produce a passport, then likely in Thailand illegally.
Even if he is telling the truth, which I can't judge but can doubt, and needs 6000 baht tea money, if he is in Thailand illegally he knew the consequences if he gets caught long before entering Thailand. For me, it would be a "sorry to hear that" and nothing more. I would not be giving him money. He would have to somehow survive without my money. Regarding the message he sent, I would ignore it, as if I had never received the message.
Too much makes no sense. If he had been arrested I can't picture the police allowing him to keep his phone, take pictures, and send them. That would be bit hard to do if in handcuffs. The only reason they would allow him to use his phone would be to try to get someone to give him however much money they are demanding. I would think the police would want much more than 6000 baht.
I think you know what my decision would be. Let us know what you decide.
Re: Bar Reports
There have been regular police raids recently and it shows with many boys missing from the bars. Some return after a few days but others have not.
Re: Bar Reports
Thank you.
Too much of that and they will kill off trade in another gay district.
Policing would involve enforcing the law and probably deporting people.Gaybutton wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 6:25 amIf he had been arrested I can't picture the police allowing him to keep his phone, take pictures, and send them. However, this is just a mafia extortion racket. They almost certainly know that boys need to use their phones to raise the money. So they need to allow at least some use of the phone.
They need to price the tea money at a level to maximise revenue, not so high that they rarely collect any.
If I were still in Thailand at the beginning of a holiday AND could verify the arrest, I'd probably pay the 6000 quite quickly.
Going to Cambodia to see him would cost considerably more, unless I stay somewhere on a monthly accommodation rate comparable with Jomtien.
Currently, I gather he's borrowed the money off friends and secured his release.
Regarding any potential contribution from me:
1 I'm very reluctant to do that without clear evidence of arrest, as it leaves the door open for all sorts of further requests. On the other hand, I don't want to be too direct about requests for proof.
2 Aussie refers to regular police raids recently. So when will he be arrested next ?
3 How much effort he makes to evade arrest is also a consideration. A couple of police wandered through Jomtien when I was sat with him a few weeks ago. He simply hid in the bar. I suggested he ought to jump the fence and escape out the back of the bar. He said if they want to catch us, they will send more than 2 police & when they do send a large number, it's game over.
My view was even if they send 50 police, they won't get every boy in the complex. So if I were in his position, I'd check every single escape route from the complex.

Re: Bar Reports
If you are so close with him you would travel to Cambodia to see him, if that is the case I would then say "give him the fucking 6000."
Re: Bar Reports
No matter how good he is, I still need to keep some clear distance between liking a money boy very much and accepting every single request for unearned financial contributions.
Otherwise I'll end up like one of these mugs who you occasionally mention here.

Re: Bar Reports
I think you are making the right decision. If it were me, he would not be getting my money for the same reason you mention. I have never seen it to fail. Help a money boy once and now the money requests keep coming - and no matter how much you give and how often you give it - it is never enough. And it never stops until you have had enough of it and end the "relationship" yourself.
If you lose him, you lose him. I doubt it would take very long to find someone else you would like just as much. One advantage we have over the money boys - if something goes wrong with one, there are always more where he came from.
Re: Bar Reports
Actually the same holds true for the Money Boy.
If one farang won't help him out there's always more where he came from.
Most Working Boys who need money, regardless of the reason(s) why, rarely limit their requests for help to one farang punter.

Re: Bar Reports
That's perfectly understandable considering 99.999999% of them come from impoverished backgrounds
I always remained sensitive to this reality.
I know some will choke on what I'm about to say: But if a farang treats them with respect...tips generously (being sensative of their needs)...and tries not to focus solely his own personal needs and desires, they will usually respect you back. Once you've earned that respect the times they try to weasel more money out of you for some scam reason will be minimal. At least it always was with me.
Farang who always try to weasel the boys into accepting lower tips - ALWAYS get weaseled back by the boys at some juncture. It's just the law of nature.
Another mistake I see some farang make is when they're too generous. This just opens the flood gates and they'll never stop asking you for money. This is where the term "Walking ATM" came into play.
