In my opinion it is no more fair or relevant to consider Trump's family background than it is to consider Bill Clinton's extramarital trysts. Neither of those have anything to do with their qualifications to be president. Obviously I hope Trump will never become president, but for me, what his ancestors did is not a factor. He has plenty of scandals of his own making.
As for Hillary Clinton's Emails, she already admitted she shouldn't have done that. I couldn't care less about the Emails. For me, it's a non-issue in the first place.
The way I see it, there is zero evidence that Hillary Clinton had any criminal intent with the Emails.
On the other hand, if the sexual misconduct allegations against Trump prove to be true, I wouldn't be surprised if eventually he winds up on the sex offender registry.

Re: Trump Supporters
But how about their foundation? That's basically a family business, so whatever Bill does that doesn't look appropriate, reflects badly on Hillary as well. That will need to be thoroughly investigated, and I've got the distinct feeling that Hillary won't enjoy her time in office very much. It will be special prosecutors all over again...
Re: Trump Supporters
The Clinton Foundation has already been investigated over and over. There has yet to be any evidence of wrongdoing. In fact, the Clinton Foundation is ranked as one of the most ethical of all such foundations by virtually all rating services. I believe 98% of all funds collected are distributed to causes their mandate identifies - and that includes distributing HIV drugs to over 8,000,000 people in Africa. The foundation's work in contributing to cancer research is also laudatory. Not one penny has been found to have been siphoned to any Clinton family member. Similarly, the so called "pay for play" nonsense is spurious. With such a stellar record of honesty, of course benevolent corporations and governments donate funds. It is no surprise that these same entities meet with US government officials on official business. And, after investigation after investigation, no quid pro quo connected to gifts given the Clinton Foundation has been discovered. Now compare that to what we know about the Trump Foundation and the existing indictments associated with it.Alex wrote:But how about their foundation? The problem is - try telling that to the Trump supporters.RichLB wrote:The Clinton Foundation has already been investigated over and over. There has yet to be any evidence of wrongdoing.
"Tell that to the Marines."
- Franklin D. Roosevelt
As an aside, since I mentioned Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt used to tell a joke when she would visit wounded soldier hospital wards, which she often did:
"A colonel noticed one of the soldiers looking quite forlorn. He asked, 'Son, why are you looking so upset?'
The soldier replied, 'Sir, I've been here six weeks and I haven't shot even one Jap.'
The colonel said, 'I know just what to do. When you're out in the field, as loud as you can shout 'To hell with Hirohito!' A Japanese soldier is sure to jump up at that, and when he does, you can shoot him.'
The soldier thanked the colonel and said he would try that.
A few days later the colonel encountered the same soldier, looking just as forlorn. The colonel asked, 'Didn't you try my suggestion?'
The soldier replied, 'Yessir, but it didn't work.'
'Why not?' the colonel asked.
'Well sir, I did shout 'To hell with Hirohito!' and a Japanese soldier did jump up. But before I could fire he shouted 'To hell with Roosevelt!' and I just couldn't bring myself to shoot a fellow Republican'"
Re: Trump Supporters
I think the Clinton Foundation is great and does important work. What looks problematic is the relationships the Clintons have with some of their foundation's benefactors. What also looks problematic is that some foundation employees also work for the Clintons, so they wear two hats and it's not always clear in which capacity they act. I don't think this has been properly investigated yet, but I'd guess it will be.

A sitting President is immune from prosecution unless crimes related to time in office in which case impeachment proceedings would have to be initiated.Alex wrote:But how about their foundation? Actually, the "pay for play" charge has been investigated extensively and no malfeasance has been found.Alex wrote: I don't think this has been properly investigated yet, but I'd guess it will be.

I don't think it will change too many minds. I think most people already had their minds made up as to who they're going to vote for.Up2u wrote:Polls showing race tightening in battleground states
Still, it's becoming a suspenseful cliffhanger. Anyone have the latest odds from Las Vegas or betting houses?
