In the UK I've just had a booster which was Spikevax (previously called Moderna)

Thank you. This is probably updated for later covid variants since the original Moderna vaccine.

The paperwork you received may explain this & if not, the NHS app should show that. For instance, the app shows my last vaccine was the Pfizer updated for the BA1 variant.
However, my last vaccine was in October 2022, as they no longer recommend boosters for my age range.

I caught covid in November 2023 & the prevalent variant then was XBB1.5 +F456L

Some authorities also recommend waiting 3 months after infection for the next vaccine.

That answers that question.

Feeling tip top again...eating like a horse...but will have to ease back into my fitness routine a little at a time until I get my strength back.

I got my injection this morning at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital - Pfizer. The doctor said they use only the latest update and recommended an annual injection update.

On my vaccine log the doctor wrote Pfizer JN.1 - whatever that means.

I did not ask for any further information because I don't know what good it would do me and . . .

Lessons learned:

After learning the hard way I plan to get a booster in 3 months - and follow suit every year after that.

I'm fully recovered now and decided to take some steps to help me in the event I ever get covid again.

I made a file on my desktop listing each and every medication the hospital gave me to treat my condition. Understanding that all of these medications, including the anti-viral pills, can be purchased at a local clinic, i seriously doubt I'd ever return to a hospital for this. Following the recommended dosages of each medicine - I'll isolate and stay medicated for 5 days...retest myself...and call it a day.

The only antiviral that works is paxlovid. The only medication that alleviate symptoms is ibuprofen or similar ones. You can safely throw away everything else.

I tend to disagree. I was prescribed Molnupiravir and it worked fine.

I know it has a lower efficacy rating than Remdesivir and some of the others, but it worked in 5 days just like the doctor said it would.

The new covid anti-viral Paxloivd you refer to may or may not be available yet in Thailand. I'd do some research on this but it doesn't matter now because I'm already cured.

That's the way to do it !

I was prescribed Molnupiravir and it worked fine.

It's on the NHS list, so there must be data showing efficacy.

After reading your post I did some reading and apparently this JN.1 variant is the predominant variant currently in Thailand. So I'm glad that's the one I was vaccinated for. So far I have never had Covid of any variant and I hope to keep it that way. And I hope no one else reading this board ever becomes ill with Covid.
