Couldn't agree more.

I cherish my memories of the past, and you're right, it was about the time that Michael and Thomas pulled up anchor that things really started declining...not just in Sunee, but everywhere else as well.

As we all know there are more Cambodian and Laotian boys on the scene now...fewer Thais....and even fewer "Dream Boys" who used to be in abundance in the past. That coupled with the fact that the bar scene in general has become boring to many (including myself)...something that would have been impossible to even imagine in the past.

It doesn't take a genius to know what's happening on the scene right now - regardless of how often you visit...a point that seems to confuse some. And yes, Undaunted hit the nail on the head well in advance of the scene falling apart as it did...especially in Sunee. It's a miracle that Nice Boys and Winner have been able to survive. Kudos to them!

Yes, I visited Pattaya in 2008.
I've also been a customer of numerous Jomtien Bars in 2024. Have you ?
Yes, I visited most of the JC bars in 2024...know many of the boys and bar staff, etc...don't off any of the boys anymore...have the best already... :)

Good. In that case, perhaps you might treat us to your first bar report for a few years ?

These days, Jomtien is pretty much as good as it gets.

OK, so Toy Boys & Classic Boys are better, but still only a handful of very cute lads. So there is a limit to the number of times one would visit here.

The Winner Boys has selection is nothing like it was 5 years ago. Nice Boys has never appealed to me.

I remember much more than 5 years ago during the "golden years" - if there was a boy you particularly liked, it was best to "reserve" him - and you needed to do that a day in advance to be assured he wouldn't be taken off by someone else. And if you weren't there to take him within 30 minutes of the time you said you would arrive, then now he was free to go with another customer. Most of the time, if you didn't show up within that 30 minute window, by 35 minutes he was gone. In those days, hoping the customer who reserved him would be a no-show was somewhat similar to hoping there would be a seat for you on the flight you were waiting for on standby.

There were a great many really good looking boys scattered among the go-go bars then - and there were a great many bars to choose from - and prices were reasonable. In those days the average gay farang would need at least a week in Pattaya alone just to visit them all. How many of you who are relative newcomers are aware that there used to be several go-go bars on Soi Day-Night? How many remember the confusion about one bar - whether its name was Boys Studio or Studio Boys? Anybody remember which name it actually was?

Comparing the scene now to the way it was then - when there were so many bars and boys - and most of the boys were Thai - when a bar giving up and closing was virtually unheard of, does anyone truly need to ask me why I've lost interest?

When I first arrived there was, I think, one gogo bar & a couple of other bars in the Soi Day Night area. I didn't have time to check them out, because there were enough other bars plus the boys finding me at the beach. So I have no memories of that.

Giving up on the bars is one choice. I'm close to that point with the Bangkok scene & apparently some other board members have similar thoughts.

Pattaya is far better. For those who like cute twinks, we have 2 decent gogo bars in Boyztown & after that, most of the good choices are host bars in Jomtien.

I've always been extremely grateful for the timing of the changes that took place on the scene over here as compared to the timing of my retirement. It's almost as if the scene was becoming more tame at the exact time in my life where I had to tame myself as well.

Focusing on health has been a real priority since retiring 5-1/2 years ago - because I knew that if my lifestyle didn't change my biological age would probably have shrunk to less than my chronological age and my retirement would be short-lived. The mere fact that I rarely consume alcohol anymore and get a good 7 hours sleep every night alone seems to be paying dividends.

I'm grateful for the wonderful memories that I have of the Golden Years that you described...but equally grateful for the scene the way it is today...still there when I want to visit, but more tame...just like me...LOL Miracles never cease.
