Re: Trump Supporters
I agree with you RichLB. I have asked many people why they don't like Hillary and usual response is she is crooked. She has never even been charged for any crime or wrongdoing. In fact. she has been fact checked to be the most honest of all the 2016 candidates. She has also been named the most admired woman for the past 20 years straight.
Re: Trump Supporters
The electorate overwhelmingly doesn't like Hillary, she's more unpopular than ever before if a recent poll can be trusted. It's ridiculous to blame Fox News for that. How many people even watch Fox News? How many of these would even consider voting for Hillary in the first place?
If I were a member of her campaign, I would worry about those of us who don't watch Fox News, but despise Hillary nonetheless.

At the risk of being "professorial", let me provide a rejoinder to the above observation. A process of called the "Two Step Flow" of communication first proposed by Katz examines how opinions are formed. It turns out that few people base their opinion on original inputs (in this case Fox News). Instead the flow is from Media to Opinion Leaders and then to the general public. Thus, the impact of Fox News is not to their vast viewers, but to that audience's Opinion Leaders. For example, Hannity may rant, or lie, or interview with an obvious bias and that will influence relatively few viewers. But, it will reach various Opinion Leaders (found on other media, Facebook, Twitter, etc.). From there, it flows to the general public - usually stripped of any factual basis, yet the effect gets passed on down. Consequently, we find many people are convinced Hillary (for example) is crooked but they have no evidence for that other than an Opinion Leader told them so. Note, those people can not be convinced by investigations, denials, or even facts, since their belief is not based on real information, but only on what they have gleaned from their Opinion Leaders - often not even being aware of the source of their belief.Alex wrote: How many people even watch Fox News? Re: Trump Supporters
The "two step flow" you've described and the influence the "opinion leaders" have - no contest, I think that's a fair point. But that's not limited to Fox News and their viewers, the same principle naturally applies to "liberal media" as well. So my question remains, why is Hillary THAT unpopular even among those who should be firmly in her camp? I'm not talking about people who usually vote for Republicans anyway - in all likelihood she couldn't win them over no matter what.RichLB wrote:Consequently, we find many people are convinced Hillary (for example) is crooked but they have no evidence for that other than an Opinion Leader told them so.
Re: Trump Supporters
Actually, I think the polls show that Hillary is, in fact, not that unpopular. It's true her personal demeanor isn't warm and fuzzy like Bernie's and that contrast sure hasn't helped her appeal. That, coupled with general disgust with "politics as usual" adds to her lack of personal charm. But, for me, I want a president who knows how to work the existing system, is experienced in international intrigue, and shows respect for ALL Americans. So, I will happily vote for Clinton and shudder at the thought of Trump winning.Alex wrote:why is Hillary THAT unpopular even among those who should be firmly in her camp?

Re: Trump Supporters
Your voting for Clinton appears to me to be a vote for the lesser of 2 evils and in fact she is exactly that, how unfortunate for the U.S. that it has come down to this. I believe the best and the brightest no longer opt for a career in politics but rather enter the private sector.RichLB wrote:Actually, I think the polls show that Hillary is, in fact, not that unpopular.
