I've moved this topic to standard topics. I will leave it in place to make sure Montree's excellent photos remain on the board.

I don't get that either.
In fact, I don't understand why drag is, almost without exception, the centrepiece of any show or parade in Thailand.

If some bars want to have shows with drag artists, fine.
If they ALL have drag artists in the leading roles, where is the diversity ?
Where are the bars that have shows with boys as the centrepiece of the show, with no drag, or drag artists in a peripheral role ? ie a reversal of the norm.

To be fair, there does appear to be more diversity within the parade.

Note: I'm delighted that Montree has taken the trouble to take excellent photos and it's very much the right thing to do to post a representative sample from the event. Something for everyone. Some very cute. Also including the one, where if we just look at the torso, it's not immediately obvious if we're looking at the front or back......

Thanks again montree...great pics...it's almost like being there.

Flaming drag queens have always mystified me.

To me any person who's sexual identity resides somewhere in the LGBTQ spectrum is perfectly normal, and when they dress perfectly normal they appear perfectly normal to me, but when they dress like up like a distorted space cadet out of a Flash Gordan movie, all in an effort to be seen and noticed, they do not appear as "normal". And isn't that the whole mission of the LGBTQ community: To be viewed and judged by society as being "normal"?

I think it's more of not being judged at all. I think the goal is to simply be accepted, without judgment, for who we are and what we are.

Personally I very much dislike the flaming queens, but my personal tastes should not be a factor in trying to judge them. I can easily accept them even though I don't understand why they want to be the way they are. But they have every right to be what they are and live their lives as they choose - without others telling them they can't, without being penalized for it, and without having to be embarrassed for who they are.

I also dislike the drag queen look. Wearing big dresses, make up and hair done up like some lady from the 1950s. Even lady boys look better in a shirt & trousers, with no make up & normal hair.

I don't really like the way these drag queens are hogging the limelight in the gay community. I'd prefer to project the image that we're normal people who act normally.
Normal people, just like the lovely boys in the fine set of photos posted by Montree.

Again, Montree is correct to post photos reflecting the diversity of the parade.

However, I still defend the rights of people to dress up as they see fit. When off work. Even if I don't like it.

I also defend the right of people to dress as they see fit, but if a 300 lb. guy wearing a size small evening gown and smeared lipstick prances in front of me I'll exercise my right to laugh... Can't help it...just being ME.
