Nobody likes that mama-san. As far as I know, nobody has ever liked that mama-san. And yet the bars keep hiring that same mama-san. I can't figure that out, especially since in this day and age there is no need for a mama-san anymore.Josan wrote:Hideous is the correct word!

Well, Thai or Farang, I could not ever see a businessman of the calibre of (say) say Warren Buffet or Ray Dalio investing in a gogo bar.
No moat, low margins & un-predictable donations to the authorities required.
So I'm not surprised we see some poor management decisions in this sector. Typical examples include:
Employing terrible mamasans (Classic Boys or 360)
Playing music so loud it deters the typical mature customer base (Happy Place or whatever it was called)
Having a poor bar layout that could be fixed at almost zero cost by blanking off part of the bar.
However, on balance I'm grateful to other people for investing in this sector & hope to continue visiting the better bars.
It's best not to expect perfection in the management of the bars, but to just settle for seeing something near to perfection strutting about on stage (on a good day).
