Collect calls to America
Collect calls to America
Anyone can tell me how to make a collect call to America from a land line? The staff of my hotel have no clue. I check the Web and could not find an answer. I need to call my bank.

Ramzes...
Just ask the boy you're with if you could use his phone for a short call to a friend....hell, they do it to us all the time.

I seem to recall that you can make 800 # and collect calls from the phone office on the corner of South Pattaya Road and Third Road.

If I want to call a toll free number in the USA I always use Skype. There is no charge and it works just fine on both my desktop computer and their smartphone app.

Re: Collect calls to America
Yes, I made the call from my hotel. I could have used my mobile but it is the same price (3$/min) plus taxes. From the hotel, no taxes. I could not use Skype, I don't know how and I assume that you would need a mic and I don't have one. So the easiest and fastest way to reach my bank was to call directly and pay for the call. The reason I wanted to reach my bank is that I used an ATM to withdraw some bahts. The machine spit the money but swallowed my card.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Why didn't you tell us that in the first place? If we had known that, we could have saved you a lot of time and money. If an ATM eats your card, all you need to do is call the Thai bank, tell them the location of the ATM that took your card, and they will tell you what to do to get it back, usually the next day.ramzes wrote:The reason I wanted to reach my bank is that I used an ATM to withdraw some bahts. But now that you informed your issuing bank, they've probably locked your card. If you can still get it back, maybe they will unlock it for you. It's worth a try.
