A real life "Ada Quonsett"

Post by Gaybutton »

Some of you may remember the 1970 movie "Airport," in which Helen Hayes played "Ada Quonsett," the elderly woman who would always find ways to stowaway on airplanes. Helen Hayes, by the way, won an Oscar for her portrayal of Ada Quonsett.

"Airport" was made long before metal detectors and tight security was ever put in place in airports. Now there is a real life "Ada Quonsett" who has been a stowaway on numerous flights and gets aboard flights without a ticket. In this day and age, how does she manage to get aboard flights without a ticket? So far, she's not telling anyone how she does it . . .

"Serial stowaway" arrested again in Fla.

MINNEAPOLIS -- A woman known as the "Serial Stowaway" was arrested Monday after allegedly claiming that she had boarded a plane in Minnesota without a ticket and flew to Jacksonville, Fla., according to CBS Minnesota.

Marilyn Hartman, 63, has been involved in dozens of stowaway arrests across the country, reports the station.

According to a report from the Nassau County Sheriff's Office, Hartman took a shuttle from the Jacksonville airport to the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. She then allegedly checked into the hotel under another guest's name -- disappearing when the real person checked in. Security found her hiding out the next day in a room under renovation.

TSA officials are currently investigating, officials told CBS Minnesota.

Hartman had reportedly tried to board flights at San Francisco International Airport six times last year, before getting arrested for trespassing at Los Angeles International Airport in August.
