You may think I'm joking, but I'm not. The best insect and mosquito repellent of all, from among all I've ever used, is Avon "Skin So Soft" bath oil. I truly believe Avon would do far better if they were marketing it as an insect repellant rather than a bath oil. You simply rub it on as is - without diluting it. It not only keeps the mosquitoes away, but also is good for your skin and it smells a hell of a lot better than most insect repellants. I don't know what's in it, but it works beautifully for me.

Over the years I've probably tried most insect repellants out there, not one of which ever stopped the mosquitoes or even slowed them down. But once I found out about Avon "Skin So Soft," when I use it I don't get mosquito bites at all.

I found out about it many years ago and that's what I've used ever since. When I'm in mosquito territory, I use it and I don't get bitten. It lasts from the time you rub it on until your next shower.

It's not cheap, but one large bottle of it is probably more than enough to last you the rest of your life.

I have looked for Skin So Soft here, but can't find it. Where do you get it?

I brought mine with me from the USA. I'm sure I saw an Avon store on the entrance road into the south Pattaya Big-C, close to Sukhumvit. It's been some time since I spotted it and really haven't paid any attention since then, so I don't know if it's still there.

There is a web site at: http://www.avon.co.th/PRSuite/home_page.page

Here is the Skin so Soft page: http://www.avon.co.th/PRSuite/personal_care.page

It's entirely in Thai, but your boyfriend can look at it for you. Obviously, it's available in Thailand and if you're lucky, available in Pattaya. If you contact them, please let us know what you find out.

They list a phone number in BKK 02 729 09700. Their hours are 0800 - 2000 Monday to Saturday.

Thanks for the tip, GB. We do have Avon shops in Penang and I know an Avon lady so I'll see if I can't get it before I go on holiday. The funny thing is I never seem to have a problem with mosquitoes in Thailand.

Of course not, but I do like having a cigarette or two -

a.right after sex
b.when I'm doing my business in the bathroom
c.when I'm writing

So, having to go outside to smoke every time is really inconvenient for me and I don't go on holiday to put up with unnecessary inconveniences. I can do that at home.

If you call and discover they do have places to buy it in Pattaya, please let us know where.
