It's difficult to have it both ways. Either you benefit from the exercise of walking, or are too careful to cross the road.
Exactly. That's one reason why I don't live there any more.

Pattaya has imploded. None of the things we talk about related to pedestrian safety, building management, controlling water pollution, etc. will ever improve in Pattaya. It's too late for that.

I love Pattaya, so don't get me wrong. But all things change.

I tend to agree. Even the infrastructure in Cambodia is better than Pattaya.

What keeps me coming back here is boys and bars. For that, nowhere comes close. Although, if they keep the border shut, the boy selection in Cambodia is more interesting than in recent years.

As for digging up pavements, the contrast between the smooth continuous slab of concrete laid on third road and the shoddy mess at the bottom of second road is remarkable. Whoever is responsible for the latter ought to get a public flogging.

If there is tea money in it, he probably will.

Another way pavements can get you:

A slab moves down under your weight and the displaced water squirts past the sides of the slab and up your leg. I get several of those per trip. Usually on second road.
If this can happen in late February, I presume if must be more common after heavy rains.
