From parking row to truck battle in Ayutthaya

A parking dispute between an eatery owner’s group and a customer’s family escalated into a fight and then a truck-ramming battle in front of the restaurant in Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya district on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Ayutthaya-Sena Road in tambon Ban Pom. Media reports said a 33-year-old man, the partner of the 27-year-old eatery owner, was reversing their white Toyota pickup near a black Nissan pickup carrying a family with three children aged eight months, 12 and 15.

The children’s 32-year-old father, who was lifting a baby stroller, reportedly warned the Toyota driver to be careful. The eatery owner and his partner insisted they were already taking precautions.

The quarrel quickly escalated into a heated argument and physical fight involving both families, parents and restaurant staff.

Eyewitnesses said the Toyota then rammed into the customers’ Nissan, and both vehicles repeatedly struck each other. At one point, the Toyota bounced off and damaged a lamp post.

The customers’ truck sustained heavy damage to its front, side and rear window, with airbags deployed and a concrete pavement brick left inside. The Toyota was badly damaged in front.

The clash occurred in the presence of a police officer, and a man narrowly avoided being crushed between the two vehicles.
