Transmission of Covid
Transmission of Covid
I have a friend whose boyfriend has contracted Covid. My friend has not been tested, has no symptoms of infection, and he has received three jabs of vaccine. I'm not sure how these jabs mitigate transmission. Do the jabs render someone non-communicable or merely protect the receiver? Is it risky being in close contact with such a person for a prolonged period of time?
Re: Transmission of Covid
As far as I can tell, they don't have good data on transmission. Possibly because it's difficult to measure.
This source says they reduce the chances of onward transmission by 50%.

However, that was published before the delta variant was everywhere.
The best results seem to be for preventing severe disease, with an 85~95% reduction. Which is well worth having.
Even then, if your friend is of a certain age, he might be better off staying clear of his boyfriend for 10 days or so.
