In this year's World Airlines poll, Qatar Airlines has once again been awarded Best Airline of the Year. The top ten in the overall category are -
1. Qatar Airlines
2. Singapore Airlines
3. ANA
4. Cathay Pacific
5. Emirates
6. EVA
7. Hainan Airlines
8. Qantas
9. Lufthansa
10. THAI
Surprising for me is that British Airways which gets disastrous reviews on the Skytrax site has climbed up to #19 and Philippine Airlines is in there at #30. Yet Finnair with its new A350 fleet only reaches #32 and much lauded Korean is at #35. The highest rated US airline is Jet Blue at #40 followed by Delta at #41. United is at #68 and American at #74.
For Business Class, the top ten are -

8. Etihad
9. Cathay Pacific
10. Garuda
I also have no idea how THAI gets into the biz class winners category, Some of its aircraft have their new business class, but most aircraft require extensive upgrading with new flat-bed seat instead of the old angle flat variety or even older bulky little-recline seats. This has been acknowledged just recently by the THAI Board.
