40-60% efficacy is really not enough I think. I'm waiting for a successful vaccine to even consider travelling to Thailand again, but if governments are satisfied with that kind of efficacy, then I'll not go again. I'm more concerned with my interactions enroute than I am in Thailand, although if only 50/50 chance I'm not going to get sick, then think of all the other 50/50's I may interact with on such a trip! Not good odds I think.

One hundred scientists including 15 Nobel prize winners call for Human challenge trial. This includes the director of Jenner institute where the Oxford vaccine was developed. The bottom line: without real experiment on humans there is no way to know whether a vaccine works or not despite all this blurb about neutralizing antibodies and T-cells.

By now I see Novavax vaccine as the most promising among those which are already in clinical (human) trials.
