Just FYI: one of Sawatdee's long term members has gotten a very good map of the 'New Silom/Surawong' area. As you can see, Soi Twilight is now empty, full of grey dots. The gay bars are now somewhat scattered, but still alive ... the red dots.

Thank you. Between that map, Trongpai's post along with the GPS coordinates he included for many of the bars, there probably will not be much of a problem for people to find the new locations for the bars.

And just my way of thinking, whatever the entity that ruined Soi Twilight is putting in, unless it's a new set of gay venues, I hope it's an utter failure . . .

Scattered ? Along one short soi and a couple on its parallel soi yards away. One more on Soi 4 also parallel to Patpong 2.
Maybe closely scattered!

It seems that map is only accessible by members of that board. Do you know if there any way of getting it posted here?

There's just one small mistake as far as I can see, and that's the calendar date insertion at top right. The date says "May '18", but I'm sure whoever did the work on this map actually meant May '19. Soi Twilight was still going (mostly) in 2018. But certainly rumours were being passed around in 2018.
On the other hand, the author might well of meant "as of" May 19, the day, not the month.
But that's nitpicking ... it's still a very good map.

Regarding the actual author, I don't know. I'm quite certain the map was discovered by the Sawatdee member, not authored by him.
Where he found it he does not say.

Mack is back with astute observations and exceptional narration style reviewing 5 of the new (old) a-go-go bars in Bangkok. It's long but once you start you can't stop--took me two cups of coffee and two pee breaks to get through it. I think I read it again!

Also the current issue of 'Thai Puan' Bangkok section is devoted to the new Bangkok bars but is a poor representation of critical journalism. There's a map too, but not as good as the one posted by Smiles. Several of the ads for the new bars have old photos of boys no longer working at the bar--just updated with new location. One ad features 6 attractive boys and all have left years ago.

The map that Smiles posted "Venues of interest" has listed 10 restaurants. just a smattering of what's within the boundaries of that map. Here's my take on the ones listed and a few that I think are "of interest" that I like..

33 Mango Tree: An oldie and the go to restaurant that you'd take a BS to after or before the deed. I've not been in many years. I see tour vans escorting package tourist to dinner nowadays. It's not gay anymore.

34 Took Lae Dea Part of most Foodland's. Reminds me of the food you might get in a high school cafeteria. Well, it cheap.

35 Telephone Been around a long time (1986) under different owners. Some dishes are decent. More of a bar then a restaurant. Good value.

36 Balcony Good special dinners and very good value. Also more of a bar then a restaurant but a lot of people do come to eat.

37 G's Very good German and Thai food for you or your BS/BF. Good imported beer selection.

38 Tapas Cafe Very good Spanish/Mediterranean food. Good wine.

39 Indigo Overpriced French food. Le Bouchon right on PP2 walkway is a better choice for real French food. Expensive but good quality.

40 Hai Som Tam Sorry, never been

41 Vesper It's more of a bar then a restaurant. There's a few bar type Mediterranean snacks on offer that are excellent and expensive. Top shelf drinks and a nice comfortable place. I spend way too much money here but keep coming back again and again. Nearby on Convent I like the food and craft beer at a place called the Mash House American type snacks, burgers and tater tots.

42 Bua Basic Thai food. I think you're better off just buying Thai food at the street stalls on soi Convent.

The map left off the new Steak Place on PP2 next to Foodland. Really good. Also, the Cork and Fork located on soi 4 is missing.
