New Go-Go Bars in Patpong

Post by werner99 »

Have forum members visited the various new gay go-go bars in Patpong?

If so, I would very much appreciate reviews or information.

As I understand the situation, all the Soi Twilight bars have closed. Some have moved across the street to the Patpong area, and several new bars have opened.

On a recent business trip to Bangkok, I visited Lucky Bar, which I liked very much. It had about 30-40 guys, and several were very attractive indeed. My off provided outstanding services.

What are your thoughts and experiences about the gay go-go bars in Patpong?

Can’t help with reviews but here is some basic information. Soi Twilight is totally dead now and in the developer’s hands. But thankfully many of the bars have just moved elsewhere nearby and therefore easy to find.

If you have a bit of time on your hands, do read ggobkk’s posts on this thread below from the gaythailand chat room site. It’s not only an entertaining read, he provides a lot of information about the new bars and their location. Several are on Patpong 2. Not many seem to realise there is a second level up there. Indeed it was the location of a gay cocktail host bar way back in the 1980s!

From a quick glance it is obvious there are 5 bars in that small area - Screwboys and DreamBoiz at street level, and Lucky Boys, Fresh Boys and Hot Male one flight up. Ggobkk also mentions Banana Bar on Silom Soi 4. He provides his experience of almost all.

Dreamboy and Boys of Bangkok will soon be relocated into one new bar, Dreamboy Paradiso, that will be on the corner of Patpong 2 on the other side from the other bars and on a sub Soi leading to The main Patpong. This is a bit of a surprise as the German owner had said last year he was getting out of the bar business having made what must be a reasonable fortune from his Soi Twilght business.

I do know that the sleaze bars Super A, Golden Cock and Nature Boys are still in business in their old location around the corner from Taiwan and down from the Mango Tree restaurant.

I have read elsewhere of 2 gay gogo bars opening on the main Patpong Soi. Maybe others have more info about these and can also recount their experiences of those in the new Patpong 2 location.

Fountainhall,

Thanks for your comments. Yes, other forums have had discussions about the new bars.

But I wonder if members of this forum have some comments or experience.

Members of this forum do have thoughtful and insightful comments about many issues.

The new locations for the old bars are actually doing quite well. Dream Boys used to pack in the Asian tourists but now with it being so small they have spread out to many of the other bars. It remains mostly a customer base of Asians with farangs getting more and more scarce. Prices can fluctuate but 350 entry/drink is the norm for the go-go's.

There's three treacherous stair entries to the crumbling second floor of PP2. Two from the alleyway and one at the end. Mind the cats.

I still encounter guys that are having problems finding the bars on Patpong 2, hereafter referred as PP2. Here are some night time shots of the entry from Suriwong and Silom.

Here are my biased unscientific reviews:

Moonlight: The original location of Jupiter. Suriwong soi 2. They did not renovate anything, just changed ownership. Industrial motif, uncomfortable seating and some seats have visual obstructions of the stage. No smoking. Shows are erotic, sex, ladyboy lip sync and amateur dancing by attractive boys. Most of the boys on stage are on the masculine side and some "models" have a high price tag. Customer base mostly Asian.

G Club: Location of the Heartbeat Club soi Wall street off Suriwong. The relocation of X-Size The renovation was haphazard and what was a modern club club was turned into a old looking a go-go with a lot of wasted space. Uncomfortable seating facing a small stage. Shows are the usual erotic and sex with ladyboy lip sync. Boys on the masculine side. Smoking

Screw Boys: Same location Patpong 2 lower walkway. Strange design with angled seats but mostly comfortable. A caldron of smoking. Show are mostly ladyboy lip sync but recently some new sex shows. Lots of twinks but most are Vietnamese. The rest are middle of the road. Sometimes under prices the other bars. Customer base mixed leaning Asian. It's being billed as the new Screw Boys, looks just like the old Screw Boys.

Fresh Boys: Second floor of PP2. Quite a clean and modern renovation. Lots of bench seating on three sides facing the stage. Smoking but decent ventilation. The usual sex shows and ladyboy sync. Good mix of middle of the range boys and a lot of talent in the big Cock show--still doing the pole trick.

Hotmale: The last bar to relocate. Second floor PP2. There's a nice balcony bar with drinks starting at 120B with hosts. The renovation was haphazard and looks unfinished with uneven floors and mix and match seating. Exactly the same shows as the old place with same performers and generally no lady boy sync. Boys middle of the road mostly. Smoking but ok ventilation. No waiters, the mamasans double as a waiters.

Lucky Boys: This is the combined staff of Classic and X Boys. This is the largest gay a go-go. Big high stage--front seats are too low. Three tiered seating with alcove tables very comfortable. Smoking but very good ventilation. Lots of fans. The shows need improvement and I'm told they are working on it. The usual sex with ladyboy sync with dancing nude boys. Twinks and middle of the road boys. The bar now seems full each night with Thai and Asian groups. I was told as the farang numbers keep dropping and the Asian and as local numbers keep rising the twinks quantity will decrease. This is not the old Classic Boys. Some twinks have already moved over to Screw Boys.

Dream Boys Paradisco: PP2 opposite Hotmale. Very small very loud mostly strange drag queen show. No smoking. Moving in a month to a larger place just to the right of present location. I hope the show gets better. It could not get any worse.

Tawan Bar: Same location entry to Suriwong soi 6. The only muscle boy bar. Frequent chuck wow shows and the usual sex format. Smoking.

Banana Boys: The relocation of Soi Twilight's Fresh boys, not to be confused with the new Fresh boys on PP2. It's on Silom soi 4. Downstairs a balcony and inside host bar and upstairs a small go go. Smoking, low ceiling and can be really bad. Quite small and not very comfortable. Same performers from Fresh Boys soi Twilight. Usual sex shows and occasional lady boy sync. Boys mostly middle of the road.

Jupiter: The end of Silom soi 4. A renovation of 4 You and several other venues over the years that did not do well but Jupiter is full most nights with almost exclusively Asian customers. The boys are all on the masculine side with some "models" Lots of lady customers. No smoking. Food and snacks available. Full with customers most nights.

Superboyz Bar: PP1 second floor small hard to see makeshift sign. This is the leftovers. The cut staff from several bars got together and moved in this former lady bar. Sex shows. No lady boys. Good luck perhaps it will make it. Clean and fresh inside and I don't know if smoking is allowed or not.

Super A, Nature and Golden Cock are still in operation with a small and eager to please staff.

There are two more new gay bars on either sides of Superboyz , both on street level. One of them is called Sweet Banana, and is managed by Wirat of the now defunct Solid Bar. I was the only customer about two weeks ago. The other bar is Chillout furnished with a pool table, but I didn't stop to investigate further. I walked up the red-carpeted stairs of Superboyz and was cheerfully welcomed but didn't stay as I already had a long day.
My recollection of Lucky bar is its cavernous size and if you're seated at the third tier right at the back, you might consider bringing your opera glasses to see the jewels exposed on stage.

Yes, I left out Sweet Banana. It was closed Thursday night. I don't know if it was closed due to a slow rainy night or perhaps only open on weekends. Three PP1 bars put together with a shoestring and some scotch tape in a bad location with the fired and redundant staff of the soi Twilight bars. I noticed a lot of closed vacant lady bars on PP1. One of the very large lady bars opposite Foodland just closed.

I had some friends from Chiang Mai that could not find Silom soi 4 and walked right past it. Hard for me to fathom but I guess at night with all the obstructions and lights it's possible. There is a sign. You have to look right, look left and up then Put your left foot in Your left foot out Your left foot in And shake it all about.....

Here is a photo at night for the entrance to Silom 4. I could have taken clear daytime photos but that's not likely when you're looking for Silom soi 4. Look for Sunrise Taco.

Yes there is a street sign 'SOI 4' at the start of soi 4.

Other clues massage boys hustling for customers outside Sunrise Tacos and Eat Man Woman (?) restaurants on Silom and between them a boy or two sitting on stools with a large Jupiter board, ready to escort you straight down the soi to Jupiter.
If all that fails to help, just look down the soi for the many light boxes advertising Balcony Pub, Telephone, Connection, Banana Boys, Jupiter etc.
Hard to miss really.

Thanks Trongpai. Post 4 is the best summary of the 2019 Bangkok bar scene I have read, including details of which bars replace old ones.
