Alert! - A serial egg thief is on the loose in Pattaya

Post by Gaybutton »

I'm ready for this one to end up in Ripley's Believe It Or Not. A few days ago an egg merchant fell for a con artist who managed to make off with 8600 baht worth of her eggs. That would be well over 1200 eggs.

Today there is another news report that the same thing has happened to another egg merchant, obviously by the same man using the same con. Wow! A serial egg thief!

So, now he's got at least 2800 eggs. What does he plan to do with them? Sell them on a black market? Hot eggs! Make it into the Guinness book of World Records for the world's largest omelette (or most stolen eggs)?

Someone must have awakened one morning, thought about what he wants to do today - and then this bright idea occurred to him.

Another Pattaya egg merchant reports dozens of eggs stolen, police believe serial egg thief in the area

By Tanakorn Panyadee

21 July, 2022

Another Pattaya egg merchant said that a man who drove a rusty pickup truck stole dozens of her eggs. The suspect may be the same person who previously committed a similar theft in the nearby area, according to Banglamung police officers.

A 57-year-old female egg merchant Bang-on Prem-on reached out to The Pattaya News reporters on Wednesday, July 20th, to report her grievance that a man who drove a rusty pickup truck stole dozens of eggs from her stall in the Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict of Banglamung a week ago.

Bang-on told The Pattaya News reporters that the suspect was around 40-45 years old, Thai, dressed like an ordinary merchant, and drove a rusty pickup truck. She said that the suspect ordered dozens of eggs and tried to keep her busy by asking her to write a bill while he was fussing with his phone.

The suspect then told Bang-on he had to go get some cash from his car but suddenly sped away with the eggs. The victim reported the incident to police who presumed that it was the same man who previously stole dozens of eggs worth 8,600 baht from another egg merchant in the Huai Yai subdistrict on July 19th.

Initially, the police said they would review CCTV footage to locate the suspect’s whereabouts and bring him to justice to stop this crime spree.

Once the police catch this guy I hope there will be follow-up news articles. I can hardly wait to find out why this thief was doing this.

Two more egg merchants report dozens of eggs stolen in Chonburi as serial egg thief strikes yet again

By Tanakorn Panyadee

22 July, 2022

The same egg thief who drove an antique pickup truck and stole dozens of eggs from two egg merchants in Banglamung has struck yet again, using new tricks to deceive his victims.

The first victim, Wichitra Saengkla, 31, spoke with The Pattaya News reporters on Thursday, July 21st, about a male egg thief who stole eggs from her shop at the Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict.

According to Wichitra, a male suspect driving an antique pickup truck stopped by her shop earlier this month, to order 10 packs of eggs and put them in his car. This time, however, the suspect claimed that he needed to use the eggs to cook food for students at Ban Rong Heep School and asked to pay later because he did not have any cash on him.

Wichitra said that she sympathized with the suspect and let him take the eggs because she knew the school well. However, the suspect took all the eggs and never returned and never contacted the school or was associated with them.

Wichitra told The Pattaya News that she felt very sad and would be more prudent next time. “I will just refuse or at least ask the person to place a deposit first if they want to pay later,” Wichitra stated.

The same egg thief then moved on to the Huai Yai subdistrict in Chonburi and duped another victim. The female egg merchant Chonthicha Phathaisong, 31, told The Pattaya News that the man, who looked like an ordinary merchant and also drove an antique truck, ordered 10 packs of eggs from her. After a price negotiation, the suspect put the eggs in his truck and asked if he could pay later because he had no cash and needed the eggs for hungry students.

Without Chonthicha even giving her consent yet, the suspect darted for his car and sped away. Chonthicha said she reported the case to Banglamung police with CCTV footage clearly showing the suspect’s appearance.

She hoped that the police would be able to catch the suspect this time because she was worried that the suspect would commit another crime against her fellow egg sellers.
