Half of Pattaya South Road closed until year-end

By Pattaya Mail

June 11, 2020

South Road will be reduced to one-way traffic from June 13 until the end of the year as part of the Provincial Electricity Authority’s project to bury power lines.

Eastbound traffic will be prohibited from Third Road to Sukhumvit Road, with the right lane closed to improve the electrical system in preparation to relocation of electricity cables and communications lines.

Detour signs went up June 9 and people are advised to find other routes to access Sukhumvit Road until the end of the year.

Major South Pattaya Road construction begins, six month timeframe of a one way road expected

By Adam Judd

Tuesday, 16 June 2020

A significant road construction project has begun this week which will limit traffic to one way on South Pattaya Road for an estimated six months to support an underground cabling project in South Pattaya.

Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Kietisak Sriwongchai along with Major Arut Sapanon from the Pattaya City Traffic Police inspected the construction area on South Pattaya Road yesterday afternoon.

Major Arut told The Pattaya News “More traffic police are being assigned to patrol near the construction area to prevent vehicles from stopping on the yellow white and red lines in the construction zones, as well as cutting through the overall construction area on South Pattaya Road.”

“No parking signs are placed along Pattaya Third Road around the vicinity of the construction entrances to South Pattaya Road.” Major Arut added.

“Road construction signs and lights are placed on the construction area overall throughout South Pattaya Road to make sure that road users will clearly see and avoid any accidents.” Major Arut concluded.

The construction project manager, Mr. Thanoo Surachailikawit told The Pattaya News “The road construction for underground cable and wire line installation is going to take about six months.”

Remember how this construction project was going to be completed by the end of the year 2020? Now they're saying it won't be completed until June 2021.

Why am I not surprised? Actually I will only be surprised if it is finished by June. Whenever it is finished, we can all wonder how long it will be until they tear up the road again, as usual in Pattaya . . .

Pattaya residents and motorists bemoan inconvenience of ongoing roadwork

By Jetsada Homklin

February 6, 2021

Pattaya residents are losing patience with long-running South Road construction, as now the public is being told it would continue through June.

Contractor South Pattaya Kha Mai Ltd. has ripped up pavement, restricted traffic to one way in places and created detours as part of the 22.6-million-baht roadwork that began in August and, although originally scheduled for completion Dec. 31, 2020, is now slated to finish June 6, said Deputy City Manager Kiattisak Sriwongchai.

Motorists are complaining about the inconvenience and inability to make a U-turn while business owners are grousing about lost income.

It is quite obvious that the contractor doesn't know how to manage the job.
