Re: Good Boys closing down..
I pass it many times always many boys out front never ever have seen a customer going in or comimg out........a447 is the only one I have ever heard mention it.......Owner and mamasan previously worked as mamasan at original Krazy Dragon is a complete horror. This does not bode well for Sunee as another bar is soon to close as well this might be the beginning of Sunee's swan song.

For me, that swan song began the day Crabby and Thomas left the Corner Bar. Sunee Plaza has been slowly spiraling down ever since.Undaunted wrote:this might be the beginning of Sunee's swan song.
There are still the Power Boys, Nice Boys, Eros, and Winner go-go bars in Sunee Plaza, along with a few beer bars, but that hardly compares to just a few years ago when there were so many more go-go bars in Sunee Plaza and the nearby Day-Night area.
I used to dispute you when you would say the gay hook-up apps are causing the bars and gay beach to go downhill. Not any more. You were right about that and I was dead wrong. Along with that, there were many other factors contributing to the problems and unfortunately the result is obvious.
If the remaining bars are going to be able to last much longer, they better come up with some new kind of format that will re-attract customer numbers and they better stop pricing themselves out of the market. That includes Boystown and Bangkok. They're starting to have trouble too.
It may already be too late.

Just my opinion, but I believe these are some of the factors:lvdkeyes wrote:What accounts for Jomtien Complex being a very busy place?
1. Not everyone needs the bars to be go-go bars.
2. Nice hotels and good restaurants right there and just outside within easy walking distance.
3. Drink prices, off fees, and tip expectations are not excessive.
4. It's on a baht bus route.
5. Easy to find nearby parking if arriving by car.
6. Hardly ever police raids.
7. Reasonable music volume (most of the time)
I don't know what else makes it more attractive than other locations to many. A lot of difficult to explain intangibles, I suppose.

Anyone know the reaction of the owners of Sunee Plaza? They must be taking a hit from loss of rents. Or are they planning a revitalization that does not include gay establishments?

No one ever knows what the owner Sunee reaction is however, one would imagine the property value is significant and would not be surprised if like Soi Twilight a developer takes an interest.Doug wrote:Anyone know the reaction of the owners of Sunee Plaza? And develop what? I'm wondering what a developer would want to develop there.Undaunted wrote:would not be surprised if like Soi Twilight a developer takes an interest.

Re: Good Boys closing down..
The existing buildings in the plaza by themselves have little value......A deveoper could make an offer on the land....demolish the buildings.....build hotels.....etc. Maybe create a mini China for Chinese touisits with restaurants hotels and more catering to them. The LK property Co. would be a perfect fit for this.Gaybutton wrote:And develop what?
