A few riddles just for fun!

Post by lvdkeyes »

RIDDLE 5 IS AMAZING. THEY MAY SHARPEN THOSE GENES IN YOUR BRAIN AND COULD STALL ALZHEIMER'S FOR YEARS ….:-)

1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three
rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of
assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't
eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over
5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out
together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

3. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you
throw it away ?

4. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words
Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday?

5. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you
can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and
plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing
is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about
it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a
bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!

THE ANSWERS TO ALL FIVE THE RIDDLES WILL BE POSTED LATER.

I tried, but I'm stumped. The best I can come up with are some dumb answers:

#1. He chooses any of the three rooms, but stays in the room he's already in.

#4. Name three consecutive days: Ok, then I choose my own names for three days. How about Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3? Or First, Second, and Third? Nothing says the names have to be in English either. So, how about Wan Atit, Wan Jan, and Wan Angkhan?

At first glance, maybe:

#1 - the lions should be dead after not having eaten since so long, so they should be safe
#4 - yesterday, today, tomorrow

I can't figure out lvdkeyes' riddles, but here's one for ya: Remember the old Princess or the Tiger riddle?

The handsome prince wants to marry the beautiful princess, but he has to pass a small test first. There are two doors. Behind one of them is the princess. Behind the other one is a ferocious tiger that will instantly kill him. He has to pass through one of the doors, but he has no idea which door the princess is behind. He does have one chance, though. There is a guard at each door. They both know which door the princess is behind and which door the tiger is behind. To complicate matters, one of the guards always tells the truth. The other always lies. The trouble is, the prince doesn't know which guard is which. He gets to choose just one guard and he gets to ask the guard just one question. Based on the answer to the question, he'll know which door the princess is behind. So, which guard does he choose and what is the question he should ask?

NO CHEATING!

If that one's too complicated, here's one that's much simpler: A father and son are in a car accident. The father is killed, but the son is seriously injured. They rush the son to the hospital and take him right into surgery. When the doctor comes in he takes one look at the patient and says. "You need another doctor. I can't operate on that boy. He's my son."

How can this be?

4. Something like New Years Eve, New Years day (and then we need a further one, or with other holidays that occur in a row).

5. There is no letter "e" in the entire paragraph. I once came across a similar paragraph - but that was 20 years ago and in German.

Congrats to Alex and Christianpfc. I have to be honest and say I couldn't figure them out myself.

Answers:

1. The third room. Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead.
That one was easy, right?

2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband,
developed it, and hung it up to dry (shot; held under water; and hung).

3. Charcoal, as it is used in barbecuing.

4. Sure you can name three consecutive days, yesterday, today, and
tomorrow!

5. The letter "e" which is the most common letter used in the English
language, does not appear even once in the paragraph.

GB's second riddle is easy. I got it right away. The first will take more thought.

For me, it's the other way around, I know GB's first riddle since a long time, just presented a bit differently. So I won't post my solution, as it would be a bit like cheating. Regarding the second one, I came up with an answer immediately, but it just seems too silly to be right.

I'd like to wait a day or two before positing solutions. In the meantime, if anyone wants to send me a PM with your solution, I'll be glad to tell you if you got it right.
