Handphone at Changi Airport
Handphone at Changi Airport
On a recent visit to Singapore my handphone was taken for 'inspection' upon arrival, in the customs area. I cannot recall that ever being done before and all I can think of is that they were checking for porno videos [which I do not have]. I had thought that those days were well past in Singapore...years ago I had business video cassettes for a trade fair seized and sent to the censor, getting them back 3 days later after trade fair was finished. When are they going to grow up?
Re: Handphone at Changi Airport
I arrived in Singapore on Wednesday on a Cathay Pacific flight from Bangkok. Soon after disembarking, there was a new special security area quite near the gate where all passengers from the flight had to go through a very strict security check, exactly the same as on departure. Very few flights were subjected to this arrangement, as I could only see one such area in the very large Terminal 1. Is this a new concern the Singapore authorities have, I wonder, about a security threat out of Thailand?

I can vaguely recall, in the long distant past, when flying used to be an enjoyable experience. These days sometimes I can't help but think airline and airport security staff all received their training at Dachau.
There is an article on the CNN web site called "World's Most Hated Airports." http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/21/travel/wo ... index.html

This special control I had already sometimes, but only when arriving from Bangkok. Maybe they are afraid of drugs coming from LOS. I believe more the security staff got their training at Guantanamo ( always have the "big freedom" in my minds).fountainhall wrote:all passengers from the flight had to go through a very strict security check

Re: Handphone at Changi Airport
I didn't experience any such thing when I flew in at the end of October. Maybe it's completely new. Or they're only targetting passengers on flights in and out of Thailand?
I'm too old to be an enfant terrible so I'll just have to settle for being an irrrrrrrascible old fart! My Blog is here http://xiandarkthorne.blogspot.com/
