Woman filmed using overhead air vents on plane to dry underwear

Singapore: A woman caused a stir on a Moscow-bound flight recently, after she was filmed using the air vents of the plane to dry her underwear.
In a video that has since been shared widely online, the woman is seen holding the white underwear overhead while seated in the plane. She moves it around just below the air vents, and even flips it a few times.
She continues to dry her underwear for at least 20 minutes, and was seemingly not embarrassed by her actions, according to British news website Daily Mail.
The woman, whose identity is not known, was on board Russia's Ural Airlines from the Turkish resort city of Antalya to the Russian capital earlier this month.
Passengers on the flight were taken aback by the woman's strange behaviour, though none of them did anything further.
Daily Mail quoted a witness as saying: "Everybody was looking with interest and confusion, but everybody remained silent."
Online, some people have suggested that the underwear may have belonged to the woman's child, though it is unclear if she was travelling with any children.
One social media user said: "Maybe the take-off was sort of extreme, so now she has to dry those."
Others, however, frowned at her actions.
Earlier this month, a Transavia Airlines flight from Dubai to Amsterdam was forced to make an emergency landing in Vienna after a passenger refused to stop farting.
A fight broke out between the man and other passengers mid-air, and the incident quickly went viral after a video posted online showed Austrian police boarding the plane.
Four people, comprising two Dutchmen and two Dutch-Moroccan sisters, were escorted off the flight.

I don’t think someone drying their knickers would put me off unduly. But I wonder how you keep farting? I guess the guy must have had some physical problem whereby he kept on swallowing air. If not worse is when the guy next to you takes off his shoes and suffers from bad foot odor. That happened once to me on a 10-hour flight and it was disgusting. Had the plane not been completely full I would have requested a new seat.

Probably a lot of bratwurst, sauerkraut, and beer before boarding the flight would do the trick . . .fountainhall wrote:I wonder how you keep farting?
And I would object to someone using the air vents to dry their undies. I would be unable to keep from wondering how they got wet in the first place. And just like your problem with the foot stink guy, I don't relish the idea of having to smell the odor of someone's underwear blown in my face from an air vent.
Most of us have had our little air travel nightmares. Once I was on a flight from New York to Cairo. I went to Cairo. My luggage went to Milwaukee.
Then there was the time I was seated next to the guy who smelled like he hadn't seen the inside of a shower for at least a year and a half.
Another great experience was the time I was returning to the USA from Bangkok via Tokyo. The flight to Tokyo from Bangkok is about 7 hours or so. The woman seated next to me was airsick the entire trip. I spent 7 hours having to sit next to someone vomiting, dry-heaving, and using up most of the aircraft's supply of barf bags. That was real appetizing when the meal was served. When we finally arrived in Tokyo, I was praying that if she had a connecting flight, it wouldn't be the same one I was on. Fortunately, I never saw her again.

I saw a guy brushing his teeth in the aisle as people were trying to board.

I guess there was no time to do that before leaving for the airport or in a restroom before boarding the plane.thaiworthy wrote:I saw a guy brushing his teeth in the aisle as people were trying to board.
I hate to think where he spit it out. I hope he at least used a barf bag.

Re: It's the ONLY way to fly
When I left from the UK to Thailand in Nov or Dec 2010, I got snow in my shoes / onto my socks. Rather than spending all the trip with wet socks, I took them off on the plane and put them on the air vent next to my seat (I had a widow seat). But I would never get the idea to hold them up to dry them in the top air vent.
Re: It's the ONLY way to fly
This may not be the only way to fly, but the way services are being cut perhaps it will become the cheapest seat on the planes. Pollution masks unlikely to be provided!

You are feeling a bit randy. So you do what comes naturally. Your laptop is handy. You undress, watch some porn and then start to enjoy yourself. Only this is not your bedroom. You may be seated on your own, but you are strapped into an aircraft economy seat with passengers all around you.
And that, folks, is exactly what happened on a packed Malindo Air flight OD162 from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka just 4 days ago. The 20-year old Malaysian student not only did his own thing, he walked to the toilet in a state of undress, having first urinated on his seat. The man was eventually restrained by other passengers on the plane who tied up his hands with a piece of cloth - presumably fearful that there would soon be another stain on the seat if they were left free.
