My friend raves about this new Mexican restaurant between Beertopia and the Land office "Dave's Cantina".

I will have to give this place a try. I lived in San Antonio, TX for a year, so I know what good Tex Mex food is.

We tried Dave's Cantina for dinner tonight and was pleased. The food was very good, however the menu is very limited. The owner said the menu would be expanding, bit to pages and pages.

I should have written about this restaurant months ago. He has improved the food 94.4% since the first day of business. I know because I was there the first day have have been back a dozen times at least.
Yes Virgina, 94.4%.
No matter how you want to classify the food, i.e. Tex Mex, South Western, Original Mex, San Diego type---you will either like it or complain about it.
For me it hits the spot when that urge for Mex hits ya. Just side note, I was born and raised in southern Ca. and have eaten at lots and lots of Mexican Joints but never had ordered or eaten tortilla soup until I tried it at Dave's Cantina.
IMO it is worth the trip just to taste the tortilla soup.
Note: Last time I was there posted times are 1pm to 9:30pm. Closed Mondays.
buen provecho (enjoy your meal)

He still doesn't have guacamole on the menu. Also he says it takes 40 minutes to steam his tamales. Apparently he doesn't believe in microwaves.
