Re: need an electrician in Pattaya
I often wonder if there is anything such as a real, trained and licensed electrician in Pattaya and not just a handyman type?

If that's what you're looking for, I would go to a construction site where an obviously high quality building is under construction and find out who is doing the electrical work.windwalker wrote:I often wonder if there is anything such as a real, trained and licensed electrician in Pattaya and not just a handyman type?
For typical home electrical work, I'll be sticking with Doon. Any time I've had an electrical problem I've always had Doon do the work and his work has been just fine. I have no idea what kind of training he's had or whether he even has any licenses, but when I watch him and his staff work, they certainly seem to know what they're doing and anything he's ever done for me has satisfied me.

No need to be. I've had no problems. I don't know anyone who has. If you are seriously concerned about it, Doon can set up grounding posts for you.rocket wrote:Thanks Gaybutton, I'll call him. I know many things aren't grounded here in Thailand, so I'm nervous plugging things in.

Rocket...
I've used Mr. Doon as recommended by GB
He's excellent and also has an electrician to assist if needed.

Assuming you have a modern system, the RCD should trip as soon as 30 mA flows through you, so I shouldn't worry about that.rocket wrote:Thanks Gaybutton, I'll call him. I know many things aren't grounded here in Thailand, so I'm nervous plugging things in.
From what I've seen of Thai electrics, DIY looks like an attractive option.
