I recently went to a Harley Street specialist - I had posterior vitreous detachment in my eye (this happened to my previous eye a while ago, the story of which is on this board somewhere). Anyway, the whole bill including all tests came to UK £ 486. Everything is fine by the way and left me floaters (again).
The point being, private medicine in the UK is so expensive, whilst that charge was relatively normal, all specialists charge around that figure, the consultation was £150 and the rest made up of test charges, in Thailand I would get all that done for probably under 5,000 bht. Yes, I did go to Moorfields originally on the NHS and they did the same sort of tests but I wanted to see if the specialist would recommend laser treatment for floaters, he did, but not at this stage, he told me to wait.
