#1 Arepa Venezuelan Street Kitchen Pattaya

Postby 2lz2p » Sat May 12, 2018 4:15 pm

I just saw this in a posting on the Pattaya Foodies Group page -- looks very interesting - appears to be on Thappraya Road close to Natan's or Simon's Fish & Chips -- can't tell from their street view (older photos, so their place doesn't appear) - so could be on either side of Thappraya.

Has anyone tried it? FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/arepavene/

Until your post, I had never heard of it. From the Facebook page, it looks good to me. I'll certainly be trying it soon.

From the Facebook page it appears that most of the information posted is not in Asia but in South America.

Maybe that is why it is named Venezuelan as it features S American food -- the map on their Facebook page shows it is on Thappraya Road near the Jomtien 2nd road intersection heading toward Jomtien Beach Road. The street view on Pattaya Foodies Group FB page was apparently made before they opened - but it would place it close to either Natan's or Simon's F&C depending which side of road it is on.

And yes, GB, the food looks great - my barber is on the backside of the building that Natan's is in, since I can usually find a place to park near his shop, I hope to try it soon (at present, staying home because of a medical issue).

I did note that the Venezuelan restaurant served ceviche which is a combination of raw fish and lime juice. Quite excellent when I had it at a Peruvian restaurant.

They started putting up a few month ago. Until now I never saw it open, but the sign 'gluten-free cornbread‘ made me pass by there faster.

That would not bother me. If I like the cornbread I wouldn't care if it is gluten-free or not. I'll start worrying about gluten if I ever find that I have celiac disease.

However, when I try this restaurant I doubt I would be ordering cornbread in the first place.

Any cornbread that doesn't have added wheat flour is gluten free.

Gluten free cornbread? An outrage!......obviously Iran is not the only problem.

It's next to Simon's and looks worth trying.
