Pumpui's Express

Post by Gaybutton »

It's too bad so many of you cannot (or will not) go out to "The Dark Side" to try some of the many very nice restaurants opening up out here. "The Dark Side" isn't so dark anymore. One of my favorites, Chez Yvette ( see: http://www.gaybuttonthai.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7456 ), recently closed. However, I saw a sign that says a new restaurant is opening in the same location very soon. I don't have the name yet, but once it opens I'll certainly have the name - and a review.

Pumpui's Express has been there for awhile, but I never stopped in until I saw the review in the Pattaya Mail. See: http://www.pattayamail.com/diningout/ab ... ess-145207

Pumpui's Express is another hole-in-the-wall discovery. It's really geared for take-away, but there are 6 very small tables and a grand total of 7 chairs, with a choice of sitting outside or eating inside with air conditioning. They do not deliver, at least not yet.

The specialty is sandwiches - really good sandwiches - everything from pita bread sandwiches to Italian paninis. Their full menu is on their Facebook page. See: http://www.facebook.com/pumpuisexpress.

The sandwiches are made fresh to order. The wait time is about 15 minutes. I took home 3 of them. 1 is actually enough to eat, but I wanted a sample of the 3 I chose. What I couldn't finish now resides in my freezer, to be reheated when I want them.

I tried the Milano, the Upper East Side, and the Istanbul and loved all three of them. If you read the Pattaya Mail article, as good as they sound, they're better.

Fortunately for me, Pumpui's Express is less than a 10 minute drive for me. The sandwiches are packed individually in insulated boxes, which keeps them nice and warm until you get to wherever you're going to eat them. If you order more than 1 sandwich, the boxes are labeled so you know which is which.

Right now the problem is getting there. It's on Soi Siam Country Club which normally is an easy drive. However, Soi Siam Country Club is all torn up. You're not going to get there that way. If you want to give it a try, I suggest going to the Railroad bypass road and turning right, the direction going away from Sukhumvit, onto Soi Neurnplabwan. Go all the way out to the end of Soi Neurnplabwan, then turn left. When you get to the intersection with the traffic signal, that's Soi Siam Country Club. Turn right. Pumpui's Express is about 200-300 meters up the road on the right. To the left you'll see a huge football venue, Planet Football. Pumpui's Express is actually immediately before Planet Football, so if you pass Planet Football, you went too far.

If you're out that way, it's worth stopping by.
