Damn! That is bad news. I wish I could understand why so many restaurants I had always enjoyed were sold and then the new owners turned them to garbage. At least in Pattaya Pastrami-on-Rye makes a hamburger I really like, but even theirs is not as good as Firehouse was.

Now that you recommend Dean & Deluca's, a restaurant I never heard of until your post, you said their hamburger is pricey. How pricey is pricey? What does a hamburger cost there? What does it come with?

Let the hunt for a reasonably priced, really good Bangkok hamburger begin!

I can't recall exactly but in the neighborhood of 500B by itself. Side dishes are extra. There's just one option for toppings but I guess you can eliminate anything you don't like as they are made to order. El Gaucho has burgers also in that price range. http://www.bangkok.com/magazine/el-gaucho.htm#

Honorable mention to: http://www.bangkok.com/magazine/iron-fairies.htm and http://bk.asia-city.com/restaurants/new ... aiger-brew

Closed and now the space is a massage shop. the ladies told me it closed last month due to a lack of customers. Danial Theiger at the Brew House around the corner is still a good place to get a burger.

The American Bar and Grill on Suk 8 also closed.

So, that's it for American food in Bangkok, Closed and Closed.

Dean and Deluca closed everywhere, or nearly so, including New York, where they started.

For good burgers and steaks there's a new Arno's on Sukhumvit 13, BTS Nana and take the sky walk back in the direction of Asoke and it leads right to Arno's on the second floor next to the Coffee Club. It's quite big and comfortable.
