Bread Machine

For those of you who have a bread machine, here are two of my favorite bread machine recipes:

Rye Bread

Ingredients:

1 cup water
½ cup milk or buttermilk
2¾ cups bread flour
1 cup Rye flour
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons Caraway seed
1½ teaspoons salt
1½ teaspoons yeast
1½ cups chopped onion

Use BASIC setting
________________________________________

Apple Blue Cheese Bread

Ingredients:

¾ cup apple juice
½ cup crumbled blue cheese
2/3 cup bread flour
1 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon butter
2 teaspoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon yeast

Add the apple juice and cheese together.

Use BASIC setting

You can make those same recipes without a bread machine. I don't have one and I make all kinds of breads. I taught my bf to make the white bread we eat every morning for breakfast. He makes 2 loaves on average of once a week, He loves doing it.

I'm embarrassed to say I forgot all about it and never did.

Yes, but you enjoy doing that and I'm sure you end up with a much higher quality loaf of bread. For me, I like it much better when I can just toss the ingredients into the machine, turn it on, and the next thing I know, there's my loaf of bread.

I had a bread machine when I was in the US and didn't really like the shape of the loaves or the weird hole in the bottom, so I would set it for dough only, take it out of the machine, form it and bake it in the oven.

I don't like weird holes either. It's tough to find a good bottom these days.
