Wine Prices Likely to Increase Worldwide

Post by fountainhall »

If you like wine, global warming is likely to hit your pockets soon. According to the International Organisation for Vine and Wine, global production last year was hit by unfavourable climate conditions which led to an 8.6% decline in total production compared to 2016, this at a time when wine consumption is increasing. Production volume is described as “historically low”. Spanish wine production dropped 20%, French 19%, Italian 17% and German 15%.

New Zealand production dropped 9% but there is better news from across the Tasman where the Australians increased production by 5%. With a lot of cheaper wines, Chile dropped by 5% but Argentina was up by 25%.

China is rapidly climbing the lists of the biggest wine importing countries.
