Firefox Quantum browser

Post by Gaybutton »

Today Firefox introduced their new Firefox Quantum browser, claiming it is at least two times faster and uses much less memory.

I downloaded and installed it. The installation took less than 2 minutes. If you are already a Firefox user, when you install Firefox Quantum it automatically replaces your current Firefox browser. Other than the installation, you don't have to do a thing.

They're not kidding. I found no flaws and web pages are loading for me not 2 times faster, but most are loading up to 3 times faster - much faster than Chrome or Edge loads for me.

The browser is free. If you already are a Firefox user or wish to try it, the new browser can be downloaded at:

I have this too. It is fast, however some of the add ons & extensions don't work.

Most critically, Tab Mix isn't working. I'm of the view that if I open a new website, I want it in a new tab, not overwriting the existing tab.
Currently I don't have the full solution.
However, the following link shows how to make bookmarks always open in a new tab.

I simply right-click the bookmark and then click on "Open in a New Tab"

-or-

I click on the + icon next to the currently open tab and then open whatever I want to open.

I've always used those methods because often I do want the next site to overwrite the site I'm currently on.
