Some may be unaware that there were two wide-spread and sustained "distributed denial of service" attacks that affected large areas of the US on Friday. The NY Times and BBC report that it utilizes malware in a wide range of smart devices, the users of which have no idea that they are participating in the attacks.
This cyber-space war has been roiling for some time now but the battles draw relatively little attention. I fear that may be about to change.
