Also, as you may have experienced, moderators who actually moderate can quickly find out all about what it means to have a thankless job. Praise, compliments, and thanks are quite rare, but the Complaint Department can be a very busy place. Not everyone is prepared to take the abuse that can go with it. One of Harry Truman's most famous quotes was, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." I would add, "If you can't stand the heat, don't go into the kitchen in the first place."
