No one has to go to Japan - unless it's purely a business trip - and no one has to pay those prices. Spend a little time on the apps and you will find company in Tokyo happy to join you without seeking any cash, even for their transport. Save time and look a few days in advance and change your location to Tokyo or wherever. So you can line up one or two young friends before you arrive. I have done that many times.

On the other hand, for those in Tokyo looking for company at the last minute, most of the boys who work in those escort bars are great. The listings on the bar websites tell you those boys who work in the porn movie industry. So you might well find someone whom you have seen on vdo and want to spend time with.

Sure Thailand is cheaper. No question. Every country is different.

Fountainhall, a fantastic post. Extremely informative and well organized. I know you devoted a lot of time to the writing of the post and I certainly appreciate it. Thank you, Fountainhall. No immediate plans to visit Tokyo but will certainly retain your post for future reference. As usual, job well done!!!

Many thanks puan. I will be back in Tokyo in late March and will update here if I notice some changes.

From these very informative posts aam I correct in thinking that many Japanese do not speak very much English? Do you think it would be possible to find a University student not for sex but to take you around Tokyo so he could practice his English? Not a paid tour guide.

Since you have said "a university student not for sex" will a female student do?

Re English, many Japanese that you will meet in the gay venues should speak passable to very good English. Less good on the apps in my experience.

I am sure there will be some wanting merely to practice their English, but I’m sorry I don’t know where to find them. The usual gay apps understandably tend to have guys seeking sex. I expect there will be a site somewhere in the Internet for students seeking help with English. I guess you might try google. There used to be a site titled something like JP Guys/US Guys and I think there was a forum about language. But it was a good ten years ago. Certainly, if you don’t know Tokyo, having a resident show you around is a great way to start.

Unless you are visiting with company, don’t rule out the oossibilty of getting the best of both worlds - a student on his day or weekend off who might also enjoy sex after the sightseeing! That was how I first got to know some of the city!!

Thanks to those that answered my question. I am happy to see the free guide site also. Once I get to know a city a little bit, I feel more comfortable, exploring on my own.
