Date for 2018 Taipei Gay Pride Parade

Post by fountainhall »

Just a reminder that the Gay Pride Parade this year will be on Saturday 27 October. Over 120,000 turned up last year for the 3-hour Parade which is followed by a concert at the meeting/ending point. There is also a number of extremely popular disco parties which get quickly sold out. For a quick week-end trip departing Bangkok Thursday or Friday and returning Sunday or Monday, I notice that China Airlines still has a roundtrip fare at Bt. 9,160. This covers all of its daily flights, including up to 20kg baggage, seat reservation and a meal.

Nok Scoot has daily flights but they are basically night flights. They depart Bangkok between midnight and 2:15 am depending on day of the week. Departure from Taipei is between 6:20 am and 7:15 am. Although they haven't opened up booking after Saturday 27 yet, most days fares are more expensive than China Airlines. For example, the fare for the previous week-end departing Friday early morning and returning Monday early morning is Bt. 13, 487.

Tiger Air Taiwan is also not open for booking after 27 October. Its flights depart Bangkok around 7:30 pm and depart Taipei at 3:30 pm. The previous week-end the fare for flights departing Friday 19 and returning on Monday 22 is Bt. 7,640 with 10 kg carry-on only.

The subway now runs from the airport to Taipei Main Station and connects with the main city subway system. So transfers are now very reasonable. Hotel prices have been dropping recently in Taipei and there will be lots available at a wide range of prices.
