The article mentions that the same sex partner (article uses marriage in headline, but in body uses partner) act is expected to be acted on soon by the Cabinet and if approved sent to the National Assembly for enactment.
If enacted, it appears process will be to go to District Office to register it the same done now with marriage. I'm not sure what the current Act includes, but a few years ago before the coup, some articles I read indicated that it would permit Thai and foreigner partnerships to be registered, but not foreigner and foreigner partnerships.
Of course if it passes, it will be up to each of us in a relationship to decide it it is "for them" - as for myself, I would like to be able to do so with my Thai partner of 26 years. I expect that it may still be some time before District Offices will have procedures in place if it is enacted by the National Assembly.
