Going to Suvarnabhumi Airport in rainy season

Post by tree »

Hi, I would like to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport by taxi in August
1. at 2am coming from BKK/Silom
2. at 11pm coming from Jomtien
What time would you leave to be on the safe side?
Can there be serious disruptions on the road because of the rainfall?
Thanks for your recommendations!

For an arrival at BKK from Silom at 2 am. you only need to allow 45 minutes, whatever the weather. It should only take 10 minutes maximum to get to the expressway and then 30 or so from there. I have done the trip in all weathers and have never had any problem in heavy rain as long as it's outside the rush hours. If you want to be really safe, one hour will get you there early. Unless of course there is a major accident on the expressway! I reckon you might have more difficulty getting a taxi if it's raining hard. Best to book or get one on Grab.

Thank you Fountainhall!
It means enough time for a little barhopping before going to the airport :)
