#1 US gays on "World Butt Photo Tour" anger Thais

Two US gay lovers who like to post Instagram pictures of their butts at monuments around the world have outraged the Thais.

"Joseph and Travis" - as they were named by Tsood.com - were picture baring their backsides in front of the Temple of Wat Arun.

Thais went online in droves to condemn the gays for showing their rear ends in front of the iconic temple that was built by one of the Chakri Dynasty kings and is occasionally visited by Thai Royalty for the kathin robe ceremony during the Royal Boat Procession.

Thais screamed that it was a sacred site and demanded the pictures were also....taken down. This eventually happened but not before the Thai contingent among the couple's 14,600 followers had given them a good ear bashing.

Joseph and Travis have previously posted derriere photography at the US Capitol in Washington and the Louvre museum in Paris.

Now apparently they are continuing their 'World Butt Tour' in South East Asia visiting Cambodia and Singapore as well as Thailand.

Better not get caught with your pants down lads.......

If they get caught in Singapore, they will hopefully get a good caning. As well as shaming.

What a ridiculous pair of idiots! If they try it in Malaysia they could - and should - get jail time like those stupid climbers who stripped to the buff at the top of Mt. Kinabalu.

I despise seeing people like that behaving that way. It implies the perception that all farang are like that.

What kind of nuts do things like that? Spending lord knows how much money to travel the world so they can shoot a moon? What goes through the minds of people to even want to do things like that? They must think it's the most fun and hilarious possible way to spend their time. For some strange reason, the humor escapes me.

These two geniuses have already been arrested - just as they were about to board a plane to escape Thailand.

Good!

But the fine is only 5000 baht. What's that to a farang?

Make it 50,000 at least.

The article does say they are being detained to appear in court. I hope they get jail time. I don't think Thai courts take kindly to moronic farang desecrating their religious shrines.

I hope they're not gay. That way, if they expose their butts in jail, what happens next may not be a pleasant experience for them.

Then again, maybe it will . . .

Maybe they made a mistake by posing near a temple, but anything other than a small fine is more than enough punishment. Why put them in jail?

I don't believe for a moment they did not know they were posing near a temple! The whole rationale of childish idiots like these is usually to see how much they can get away with. If only to discourage others from doing similar pathetic stunts, a small fine is not enough.

Because in Thailand if you don't obey Thai laws, you'll face Thai consequences. Maybe now, what they thought was so funny, the laughter has stopped and the grins have been wiped from their faces. I wonder how funny it seems to them now.

I'm bothered, however, that it is mentioned they are gay. These news articles always seem to do that. Why? How is that relevant? I've never seen similar articles mentioning that someone is heterosexual.

As I said, Thais do not take kindly to people desecrating their religious shrines - as these two utter idiots are about to find out. If found guilty of the charges as outlined in the following article, if they are jailed and if the sentences run consecutively they could be facing 12 years in jail, not to mention the fines. But don't worry - since they confessed, the judge might reduce their jail terms to only 6 years - possibly in Klong Prem.

"That's a powerful strong punishment for just a little infraction of the rules."

Update News: Butt boys to face breach of computer crime act, religious insult charges

The two American men that thought it would be funny to photograph their bare asses at Wat Arun and post the shots to Instagram last week are likely not laughing so hard now as they remain in police custody.

Yesterday, the chief of Bangkok Yai police, Pol. Col. Jarupat Thongkomol, told media that they are preparing to levy more serious charges on gay married couple Joseph, 38, and Travis Dasilva, 36, from San Diego. The men ran the now-deleted Instagram account traveling_butts, which focused on pictures of the men’s butts at famous tourist spots around the world, Police plan to charge the men with breaching the computer crime act and with religious insult since they posted the pics online and shot pornography at a holy site.

The two men were apprehended at Don Mueang Airport on Tuesday night as they arrived to catch a flight out of Thailand. Both men allegedly confessed to taking the lewd photos and were charged the maximum THB5,000 for the offense. However, they remained in custody pending the further charges. If they are charged and found guilty, breaching the computer crime act can carry a jail term as high as five years and/or a fine as high as THB100,000.

The religious insult charge could result a jail sentence as long as seven years and/or a fine as high as THB40,000.

San Diego Gay & Lesbian News (SDGLN) identified them in its report as Joseph Dasilva and Travis Dasilva, a married couple from San Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood, and reported that they were seeking assistance from their city administration.
