One of the problems in Pattaya is that there is little of interest to keep me occupied during the day.

Having said that, I spend lots of time at Central Festival because I love shopping.

Also, there is a great selection of restaurants.

It's the same for me in Bangkok - I hang out in Siam Paragon, Centralworld, Gaysorn, etc. The food choices there are endless.

My thoughts exactly. Central has been a godsend, though I prefer to be with P. in Big C which seems more "Thai". That's possibly not so true since the refurbishment.
When I first came to Pattaya, I found the afternoons frustrating. I'm not an admirer of Jomtien Beach, having been a regular in Grenada and other Caibbean islands previously which offered better beaches and better swimming, and the late opening of go-go bars (2100) in those days left me, frankly, bored after dinner.
Enter Planet Romeo and hornet, their arrival coinciding with the ageing process that left me more active in afternoons than the late evenings. Problem solved, or at least ameliorated.
