16 Thai airlines suspend their operations after failing safety assessments

BANGKOK: -- SIXTEEN airlines registered in Thailand have failed safety and related regulatory assessments conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), requiring them to suspend operations until they get new Air Operator’s Certificates (AOCs), as authorities enforce stricter rules in accordance with requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). I've looked without success. Does anyone know which airlines are suspended?

That seems highly inaccurate info from Thaivisa and The Nation!

The Bangkok Post had the true story 4 days ago. 12 airlines have not failed safety assessments. Yes, they have had to suspend international operations. That is because the Thai CAAT has been so slow in conducting its safety assessment audits it has been unable to provide their licences in time for them to be sent to ICAO.
The 12 remaining Thai-registered carriers that were unable to get their licences re-certified by yesterday's deadline could face significant financial losses, analysts said . . . Operators said they should not be penalised by the CAAT's delay in re-certifying their AOCs as they were ready to be audited. They maintain the CAAT has been struggling due to a shortage of staff who who can perform the task in time to meet its yesterday deadline. This was seen by the industry as rushed, ambitious and unrealistic given the state agency's limited resource to carry the entire AOC re-certification process . . .

"I don't really want any remedy rather than getting the CAAT to carry out the audit on us as quickly as possible and promptly re-issuing our AOC," Jaiyavat Navaraj, executive chairman of private jet charter firm Mjets, told the Bangkok Post yesterday.

He said Mjets has been ready for the CAAT's audit for a while but officials were unable to meet the Aug 31 deadline.

The airlines include ThaiVietjet Air, Orient Thai and Asia Atlantic. Domestic routes are not affected.

A list of commercial, chartered and cargo airlines licensed by the Thai civil aviation authorities can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_a ... f_Thailand

It does not indicate which airlines are suspended.
