Question from TAKE CARE!! re July Quiz Night

As we plan for the July Quiz Night on Sunday 9 July ... it has been brought to our attention that 9 July is a Buddhist holiday:

"Khao Phansa Day is a Buddhist holiday observed in Thailand on the first day following the full moon occurring in the eighth month of the Thai lunar calendar. Khao Phansa marks the first day of “Buddhist Lent,” a time when some observant Buddhists fast from such things as meat, alcohol, and tobacco. For the most part, only Theravada, rather than Mahayana, Buddhists observe Khao Phansa, and even many Theravada practitioners choose not to fast."

QUESTION: can any board members confirm that bars will be closed on that night? Or will they simply not be serving alcohol?

The bars will most likely be closed. However, instead of asking us, wouldn't it be better to ask whoever is in charge at the bar?
