But if you read the thread it is all very natural why it happened there are many replies. Or curiosity is strange to you? It happened as follows:
1) First there was the question how it is possible that he was arrested in 2013 with lot of evidence against him and free again in 2017. Very normal question to ponder and ask.
2) Then there was the question if he bribed himself out of it, how he got the money since he left Switserland in his 40s and has no job there. Very normal question to wonder about.
3) Then someone said he used to own a bar with underage boys. Then any normal human being with some normal curiosity (me) will ask "but how can a publicly known business employ underage boys, how did this work, why did no one call police".
4) Your reply triggered already three more replies, and so this thread continues to grow. Because every reply triggers another one because something interesting comes up. Like how your question assumes many of us sex tourists are in the closet pedophiles. Most aren't, unless we use the modern defintion that if you like 16+ you are already a pedo. But in my definition (pedo = liking pre-teen, not yet sexually mature bodies) almost no one is a pedo. That is namely a very rare condition. But why do you assume many gay sex tourists are closeted pedo's? (because that is what you assume). You have a secret you want to share?

16+ is age of consent almost all over the planet. Only prostitution is legal in most jurisdictions for 18+.
Almost all the world condones it, almost all of humanity can feel sexually attracted to 16 year old bodies. Many hetero men surely get aroused from beautiful 16 year old females. If you deny it, then you live in another world.

So you do not condone something which every parliament in the world condones? Sex between adults and 16 +? What a joke.

No argument there, but I guess that's why we have laws...to protect the young from being manipulated into having sex before they are judged as being old enough to make sound decisions for themselves. This is all very logical. But in Thailand, at least back in the 90's, the manipulation part was often in reverse order.

I remember the very first time my feet hit the soil in Sunee Plaza like it was yesterday. I walked around the circle of sois and stopped at a large beer bar named the Sports Bar (renamed Corner Bar - and Then Double Shot). I sat down on a bar stool, ordered a Singha, and a moment later there was this cute little kid who I thought was just begging for money squeezing himself in at the bar to sit next to me. I didn't speak a word of Thai at the time and he was doing all the talking with his hands. Before I could pay my bin and get out of my bar stool he was rubbing my crotch with his hand and doing these circular tongue movements like one of the girls I used to watch in in the porno movies. I don't like kids - I like young guys (+18), and if I had a pair of ruby slippers on at that moment I would have clicked my heels and returned to Kansas, but I didn't, so I slipped the kid 100 baht and drifted down the soi to be further enchanted.

Back then, in that environment, visiting gay tourists had to constantly deal this type of manipulation because it was everywhere. Some did their best to avoid it, some lost the fight and put themselves in jeopardy, some just never returned. But in any case, this was Thailand.

As GB stated, the scene has been cleaned up and there has been a significant decline in the number of underaged workers on the scene which is a good thing (both for the kids and the visitors). Ironically, there has also been a major decline in farang visitors, especially in places like Sunee Plaza. The guys who stopped coming were possibly more interested in indulging in the "manipulation" I just described versus having fun with guys +18. At least that's always been my read on this.

Yes, I can imagine losing the fight against a manipulating underage boy when he is 16, 17 maybe even 15. Because it is normal as a gay to feel attraction to 16-25 year olds primarily (same for hetero's). So I 100% understand this, certainly when the Farang is not the predator, but the boy. It is not allowed and most are strong enough, but some are weak and take the risk. I understand weak characters can fall for the trap.

But losing the fight against a manipulating underage boy who is 10 or 12 that says something. I mean only a true pedo would loose that fight. For others it won't be a fight at all.

So how must I see the scene back then in Sunee? Was it a scene with some underage boys in the 16-17 range, or was it very common to also see 10-12 year olds ? If the last, then I still can't believe no Farang ever called the police when they saw another Farang take such a boy. What would a Farang have answered if in 1995 you asked him: "You just saw that 50 year old American go with a 10 year old boy to his hotel, why don't you call police, or contact the authorities in his country, showing them the photograph you secretly made, so they can arrest him upon arrival when he returns home?".

I can maybe understand not contacting local police because they are corrupt and could be bribed, but contacting the embassy of the country of that man and showing them a photograph (or given them his name, which you can know if you chatted with him), why did no one do it? Because I understand everyone got away with this very public pedo activity. It was all in the open. What would my hypothetical man have answered in 1995 if we had asked him above question?
