Where are all the Russians in Pattaya?
They're here. You only need to look in Makro (Sukhumvit) after 7PM and the Thepprasit Night Market Fri, Sat. Sun. evening.....both places are inundated.

Re: Where are all the Russians in Pattaya?
Well, they aren't where they used to be. Observe Soi Pattaya Park (formerly known as the Russian Soi) today. Many of the businesses along that soi are now closed. I'd guess maybe half of them are closed. A few years ago the soi was crowded with people. Now only a few are walking it. I do notice that the Russian areas of the beach seem to be well populated, so I guess the Russian tourists have just changed where they visit now. I wonder how the real estate market is doing with Russians?

With TG and other airlines now restarting their mothballed Moscow service, stand by for an increase coming soon.

They also had their own sector on Jomtien beach on my last trip.
After walking past the gay section, then no mans land, there is a good sized section with a Russian flag in front. There were a lot of Russians on that section & no one who definitely looked non-Russian.
A really excellent idea.
As it happened, I was not inconvenienced by a single Russian on the most recent trip.
There were a couple of them on our section on the beach, well behaved.
Didn't bump into any in restaurants.
Also didn't encounter any of their underhanded tricks in the airport either.

I shop at the Sukhumvit Makro regularly. Now that you mention it, there are usually plenty of Russians shopping at Makro whenever I'm there.Undaunted wrote:Hmmm, Makro must be a night out for themGaybutton wrote:Look for the Russians from Chaiyapruek and to the south.
Also, a popular shopping stop for Russians is the Lukdod shop, just off of Pattaya Nua (North Road). It's a popular stop for the Russian tour buses and vans.

Please do tell what these tricks are....jumping the queues?Jun wrote:Also didn't encounter any of their underhanded tricks in the airport either.
I see far less of them in Boyztown. Serene Bar (their BT haven) is now almost devoid of them as are the surrounding streets.
I presume, as a previous, poster says, they have moved their centre of gravity (difficult I know!).
