Jun,

I heard that the trip from Pattaya to Hua Hin will take between 2-1/2 and 3 hours depending on weather and ocean currents, thus cutting the travel time in half. The Chinese-made catamaran ferry will provide morning departures from Bali Hai Pier and are apparently charging around 1,200 baht for an economy ticket and also have VIP seats on the upper deck but I don't know what they are charging for these.

The "Made in China" part has me a bit concerned, but the Thai ferry they build several years back to make this trip never made it past the first set of waves. Maybe a good idea to bring your own life jacket and a flare gun along just for safe measures.

Bon Voyage

Supposedly about 2 hours.

The first few trips are being escorted by a navy ship - just in case.

In the photo I notice the arrow straight wake from the navy ship. I notice the wake is a little different from the ferry. I don't know if that means anything, but there it is.

If that's one of those World War II relic navy ships they keep stockpiled at the Sattahip shipyard I doubt it can even keep up with the ferry. It would certainly be a source of embarrassment if the navy ship sank during its escorting mission...

To be precise, the 'boat' is actually a dual hull 'catamaran', thus it creates a double wake.
Cheers ... ( and just one more reason why I love living in Thailand )
