Re: Who Owns The Wealth in Thailand

Now if you are honest with yourself and you really want to effect change (also known as raising costs) do it in a country where you are a citizen rather than where you moved to "temporarily" for your retirement. With all respect to James the First who is entitled to his views, I believe t...

Re: Another Sunee Bar Closes

That list is highly subjective. The fact is that it has been compiled by a single hotel chain aimed at the gay traveller. Although it does not have hotels in most of the recommended cities/countries, the lack of specifics makes it seem pretty arbitrary. Australia as a gay destination? Sydney and Mel...

Gay Icons 2: The Greatest of All Time?

He is certainly the youngest. Even today we don't really know if the moody, rebellious actor with whom so many disaffected, misunderstood, sexually confused teenagers around the world of the 1950s identified so closely was really gay. He could have been bisexual. Might he even have been straight? Ye...

Re: Who Owns The Wealth in Thailand

I despise socialism, but some mechanisms to drive up minimum wages would be good. I wonder how you think that can be effected at the level that would be required to reduce the income inequality gap? Seriously! I can't be bothered looking up reams of figures on internet sites, but I am pretty sure t...

Re: Another Sunee Bar Closes

I certainly know what riverdee50 means. I have been a rare visitor to Pattaya but I was also in the closet when I first visited Bangkok in 1979. I had to depend on a tout to get me to my first gay bar. Thereafter Spartacus broadened my horizons, but I quickly threw it away as I got to know the locat...

Gay Icons 1: The Unhappy Concubine

A couple of years ago, I wrote some articles for a blog site that died in the spring this year. Asiaguys had been started as a sort of plaything for a young Australian who eventually found it too much and deleted the entire blog. One group of articles I wrote had as its focus gay icons. Since not ma...

Now reported that he was pushed! He was told by the Academy he had to apologise for his earlier anti-gay remarks. He said he'd not do so as he'd done it several times before. So, no apology, no Oscar ceremony. Stupid guy!

You hit the nail . . . Hart says he has withdrawn from hosting because of all the furore. Withdrawn or pushed? We'll probably never know. But why he was selected in the first place . . . ?
