Re: Caravan Crisis

It is a terrible problem, but this mass exodus attempt is not going to resolve it. It calls the world's attention to it, but a different way to help these people needs to be found. I hope there is a way, but I have no idea what it might be. From what I understand the vast majority of these folks ar...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Yes the liaison said they are "evaluating their options" which means no decision....thus why the questions when at this point there is nothing to question. I think "evaluating their options" suggests possible changes in the immediate future. My view is that only the foolish stic...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Note this is hearsay. A friend of mine actually went to immigration yesterday and asked a farang who works there about these rumored rule changes. He was told that after January 1 Immigration will no longer accept the income verification letter. I have no idea how factual his information is, but jus...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Hmm, this brings up another question. While not applying to me since I hold the 800,000 baht in a passbook account if one has that deposit in a Thai CD or other bank investment account, how do they make a token deposit? And a related question is must the 800,000 baht be in a single account or can on...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

RichLB could easily clear this up by checking with his friend and adding the reply to this thread. I only see this friend sporadically, but will certainly seek to clarify his reportage. I had occasion to go to the bank today and asked the bank manager about this new "rule" and she had nev...

Yet Another Immigration Question

Tonight at dinner a new friend authoritatively reported that for those maintaining the 800.000 baht deposit in a Thai bank they must also demonstrate that there has been ongoing activity in that account. I've never heard of this new rule, yet he insisted that is the case. Can anyone confirm this &qu...

DTAC Upgrade

I've been told Dtac is requiring users to upgrade their sim card by September 15 from G3 to G4. Failure to do so supposedly will result in a termination of service on that date. So, a couple questions... Is there a way to find out if I already have a G4 sim card without going to a Dtac office? Does ...

However, when it comes to living in Thailand I still go by the Richard Burk Philosophy. Here it is yet again:

"If you want love in Thailand, rent it."

Given that oft quoted Richard Burk statement, am I safe in assuming that to the two of you love and sex are the same thing?

Re: Lonely without a boyfriend

At last a realist!!!! The attitude of the last couple posters confuses me. Isn't "love" defined by the emotions one experiences? If one loves someone, isn't that the reward you seek? I suspect that imposing an economic transactional model on the relationship automatically negates the expe...

Re: A question for Trump supporters

This question opens up a dilemma I wrestle with. I have a couple acquaintances who support Trump. They are otherwise nice guys and affable. But, my belief is that Trump is a treasonous traitor I think that supporting such a man is being complicit with his crimes. So, how should I comport myself? Con...
