Re: Retirement visa news - and it's not good

Maybe when they go to immigration to submit their 90-day address report they will be informed and will have enough time, but there are also people who mail in their report. That would be nice of them to do, but I just did my 90 days a week ago and my retirement visa expires in January. No one menti...

Fair enough question. I wouldn't rely on anyone's answers. Luckily, I use the 800k option, but I do wonder how Immigration plans to deal with these workarounds - if they've even considered them.

Re: Immigration and money - in a nutshell

For those wishing to use the 65K option, I have questions: 1. How many months before renewing the visa does one have to show the stream of 65K deposits? 2. For how many consecutive months must one show a deposit of 65K? 3. Couldn't someone deposit 65K at the first of the month, withdraw it the next ...

Re: Pattaya Immigration Update Today Oct.31

Shame on you both for perpetuating histeria with no real facts coming from The Thai Immigration authority, you know as well as I do that untill an offical statement of policy is realeased the likelyhood of getting an accurate answer that all immgration offices adhere to is very unlikely. Reporting ...

Re: Pattaya Immigration Update Today Oct.31

why do you find it so hard to believe that immigration does not know at this time what they will accept as proof of income or if 800,000 is indeed needed to be in a Thai bank at least 3 mos, add to this that a new chief has just been appointed to head all of Thai immigration, when they decide to le...

Re: Pattaya Immigration Update Today Oct.31

Today I went to Immigration to do the 90 day thingy. While there I tried to get information on documenting income requirements for renewing a retirement visa. I was directed to go to Section 8 (the usual area for visa renewal) and spoke to the young man who usually rifles through the paperwork for t...

Re: Caravan Crisis

It is a terrible problem, but this mass exodus attempt is not going to resolve it. It calls the world's attention to it, but a different way to help these people needs to be found. I hope there is a way, but I have no idea what it might be. From what I understand the vast majority of these folks ar...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Yes the liaison said they are "evaluating their options" which means no decision....thus why the questions when at this point there is nothing to question. I think "evaluating their options" suggests possible changes in the immediate future. My view is that only the foolish stic...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Note this is hearsay. A friend of mine actually went to immigration yesterday and asked a farang who works there about these rumored rule changes. He was told that after January 1 Immigration will no longer accept the income verification letter. I have no idea how factual his information is, but jus...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Hmm, this brings up another question. While not applying to me since I hold the 800,000 baht in a passbook account if one has that deposit in a Thai CD or other bank investment account, how do they make a token deposit? And a related question is must the 800,000 baht be in a single account or can on...
